ArmInfo. Armenia`s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan committed a major blunder by not informing the public even of the most shocking realities involving the Nagorno- Karabakh peace process both immediately after his coming to power in 2018 and before the war last autumn, and it is not all a fact that such a blunder will not be repeated, President of the Yerevan Press Club Boris Navasardyan told ArmInfo.
"At his last press conference Pashinyan actually admitted he was justly rebuked for not having had an open talk with the public in that period - particularly about the most shocking topics, including Armenia`s readiness to leave the seven regions and new claims being put forward by Baku. I am sure that it was Pashinyan`s duty to inform the public of the real state of affairs. And by not doing so he may have paltered, acting not only against the people, but also against his own conscience," the expert said.
In this context, Mr Navasardyan will not believe that, being aware of the grave situation and of the threats Armenia and Artsakh were was facing, Pashinyan did not take any steps to avert the threats to the Armenian people. Mr Navasardyan is sure that such steps might have been taken both inside Armenia and in the international arena, particularly in relations with Azerbaijan. "Regrettably, we have never seen any of these steps. Moreover, we have been opposite ones. I think it must be evidence that the then realities have not been fully realized. It is an attempt to 'bury your head in the sand`, doing other things. I think humanly such behavior by the state leader is inadmissible, especially in the situation Armenia is facing now. But I am concerned over the future rather than over the past: is Pashinyan ready to admit his blunders, prevent their being repeated and try to rectify them? I do not yet see he is showing such readiness," Navasardyan said.
