ArmInfo.Today, November 25 is the birthday of national hero of Armenia Monte Melkonyan. It was on this day a year ago that the Armenian Armed Forces left Karvachar, which was handed over to the enemy without a single shot. It was on the defense of Karvachar that legendary Monte Mnlkonyan stood, who during the first Artsakh war was known as the most experienced, fearless and demanding commander, whose authority and popularity went far beyond the borders of Armenia and Artsakh.
He joined the fight to defend Artsakh in October 1990. At the beginning of 1991 he founded the Patriotic Detachment. Since 1992 was the commander of the Martuni defensive area. He took part in self-defense and liberation battles in Ijevan, Chambarak regions of the Republic of Armenia, in Shahumyan (Erkej, Buzlukh, Manashid, Karachinar), Martakert, Martuni regions of the NKR. He led the liberation military operations in Martuni, Karvachar, Aghdam districts of the NKR.
Monte Melkonian was killed on June 12, 1993 in the village of Marzilu during a special operation. "We have no right to lose, we must give everything to win. We must understand that this war must end only with our victory, there can be no other option. If we lose Artsakh, then we will close the last page in our history, "said the legendary Monte Melkonian. Former head of the Artsakh Defense Army's press service Senor Hasratyan also recalled Melkonyan's heroic struggle.
"Thanks to the competent actions of the Armenian units, the Karvachar-Omar operation was brilliantly carried out from March 27 to April 5, 1993. As a result of this military operation, Artsakh has a second strategically important route connecting with Mother Armenia... 27 years later, on this very day, November 25, 2020, as a result of the defeatist policy of the Armenian incompetent authorities, Karvachar, which is an Armenian citadel, was handed over to the enemy without a single shot ... It was handed over on November 25, on the birthday of one of the Omar-Karvachar operations commanders, Avo Melkonyan. I have no doubt that looking at all this from above, Avo says: "these are either donkeys or idiots ..." These expressions were the most preferred on his part at the moment of anger ... ", Hasratyan wrote.
