ArmInfo. The current domestic political situation could be described as reciprocal trolling involving Armenia`s authorities and opposition, Alexandr Iskandaryan, Director of the Institute of Caucasus, told ArmInfo.
"The dialogue between the authorities and the opposition within their agenda boils down to recriminations following the `so are you, with knobs on` principle. And it should be stressed that all the force in question got into parliament and gained power by challenging each other. In this context, I do not think that, under the circumstances and with such an agenda, this opposition could overcome the authorities. By holding rallies and protests the opposition can do nothing but just keep on the smouldering fire," he said.
However, the expert believes that present-day Armenian parliament is better than its predecessor. First of all it is due to the fact that the previous elections reflected the post-revolutionary sentiments and the 2018 state of affairs rather than the Armenian society`s present-day sentiments. Armenia`s parliament is now the mirror of divided society, with ones rejecting and hating others and vice versa.
Such political developments are accompanied by the consolidate pressure on the part of Baku and Anraka, supported by Moscow and the other OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs, with a view to ensuring communication for different parts of Azerbaijan via Armenia`s territory.
"And no matter how the means of communication is dubbed - a road, a way or a corridor. The essence of the process does not change at all. What matters is land communication between Turkey and Azerbaijan via Armenia. As far as I understand, the issues has been settled in principle, and technical problems are being discussed now," Iskandaryan said.
