ArmInfo.Azerbaijan has confirmed its interest in purchasing JF-17 Thunder fighters from Pakistan, Trend reports citing Pakistani media on Tuesday.
According to the source, on November 1, the military attache of the Azerbaijani embassy in Islamabad, Colonel Mehman Novruzov, confirmed his country's interest in purchasing these fighters.
According to him, this is a key issue on the agenda of the embassy.
The military attache said that Azerbaijan intended to purchase a modification of the JF-17 Block 3 fighter, which made its maiden flight in December 2019 in China.
This model has upgraded cockpit electronics and radar systems compared to previous versions.
Novruzov noted that Azerbaijan is working with Pakistan to modernize its Air Force.
JF Thunder is a joint Sino-Pakistani fighter-bomber. In the Chinese Air Force, the aircraft is designated Chengdu FC-1 Xiaolong. The latest modification of the JF-17 costs just over $ 25 million.
