ArmInfo. The National Security Service (NSS) of Armenia plans to increase the salary of contractors serving in the Border Service from 160 thousand drams to 210-220 thousand drams. Deputy Director of the National Security Service Aram Hakobyan said this on November 1 at a joint meeting of the standing parliamentary commissions to discuss the draft state budget for 2022, answering the question of Tigran Abrahamyan, a MP from the "I Have Honor" opposition bloc.
So, Tigran Abrahamyan inquired whether additional payments or salaries for officers and contract soldiers are envisaged in the border troops. "There is a certain logical violation in the general budget, for example, police patrol officers receive the same salary and more than officers serving in more difficult conditions in Shurnukha, Vorotan," the opposition deputy said.
In response, the MP, Deputy Director of the National Security Service said that this issue was being dealt with. "The Director (NSS, Ed. note) instructed to think about how to improve the situation. In particular, we are talking about contract soldiers serving in the Border Service of the NSS. As of today their salaries are quite low. ) They, in comparison with other institutions (security officials, Ed. note), receive relatively low wages. In this regard, the number of personnel has decreased - people are leaving. But there is an order, and we should react to it very quickly, "the Deputy Director of the National Security Service explained, adding that they plan to resolve the situation by raising wages.
It should be noted that the budget of the National Security Service (NSS) of Armenia in 2022 will increase by 22.85% - from 34.7 billion drams foreseen in the state budget for the current year to 42 billion 699 million drams (almost 86.5 million US dollars, the estimated rate of the Armenian dram to the US dollar is 493.6 drams).
