ArmInfo.Armenia sees the settlement of the Nagorno- Karabakh conflict exclusively in the format of the OSCE Minsk Group (MG), under the auspices of the co- chairs and through peace negotiations. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said this on October 13 in Yerevan at a joint press conference with Minister of External Affairs of India Subrahmanyam Jaishankar when asked by ArmInfo correspondent about the prospects of a meeting with mediators and under their auspices with a counterpart from Azerbaijan.
The Minister recalled that he had already spoken about this recently in parliament. The Foreign Minister expressed satisfaction with the fact that recently, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, at the initiative of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs, separate meetings of the mediators with the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan were held, followed by a joint meeting.
"We would like to state that Armenia welcomes the resumption of negotiations on a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno- Karabakh conflict within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship," Mirzoyan said.
At the same time, he stated that, following the verdicts, agreements were reached to discuss and try to resolve primarily humanitarian issues - the immediate release of Armenian prisoners of war, clarification of the fate of the missing persons, accessibility to Armenian cultural values that remained under the control of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces and a number of other issues.
" Then we will move on to the main component of the OSCE Minsk Group - the discussion of the status of Nagorno Karabakh. It was said that the visit of the co-chairs to the region is envisaged. In the near future, the position on this issue will become clear, and we will be able to provide more comprehensive information. In general, the meetings are planned, at least, there is an agreement to continue the process and meetings," Mirzoyan said.
To recall, in September this year in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, the first meeting of the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group took place after the 44-day military aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan against Nagorno-Karabakh.
