ArmInfo. Taking into account a certain coincidence of Armenia's interests with various international processes, the development of events in Armenia's favor today seems obvious. Political scientist Robert Ghevondyan expressed this opinion to ArmInfo.
"Since World War II, the West has generally denied the logic of solving problems by force. And against this background, Azerbaijan, violating the geopolitical balance based on the agreements of the main players, is trying to give a final solution to the Artsakh problem through force. ... In this light, the West needs to at least superficially demonstrate the impossibility of resolving problems by force and the need to resolve them through negotiations. It is here that Armenia needs to make every effort to make this demonstration not symbolic, but real, in accordance with the realization of our interests," he stressed.
In the opinion of the political scientist, the PACE resolution on Armenia and Azerbaijan and the latest legislative changes in the United States have already led to certain transformations in the Turkish- Azerbaijani rhetoric towards Armenia. In particular, to the rather positive messages from Ankara regarding the possibility of establishing diplomatic relations with Yerevan. Ghevondyan considers this an attempt by Ankara and Baku to harmonize their actions with the current international situation and trends.
Thus, according to the political scientist, Aliyev and Erdogan are trying to avoid problems, especially given Aliyev's reluctance in the past to even hear about the OSCE Minsk Group. And also taking into account the fact that, apart from Azerbaijan, all the mediators and Armenia point to the need to determine the issue of the status of Artsakh, even if in an indefinite future, as in the case of Russia. In this light, he expects greater coordination of the MG's work towards new approaches to resolving the conflict.
"Yerevan's position and work are very important in all this. In case Armenia immediately accepts all the processes considered in the international processes, which are comparable to our interests, it is we who, with the help of the Minsk Group, who will be able to bring Azerbaijan to a constructive path and to continue the negotiation process exclusively within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group, although all these tendencies are of significant concern to Turkey. At the same time, we see that Ankara has gone into the shadows, giving Baku the role of the first violin in anti-Armenian rhetoric," the political scientist summed up.
