ArmInfo. Moscow will take concrete, more substantive steps in the South Caucasus after the elections to the State Duma and the completion of the process of  forming the power vertical. A similar opinion was expressed to  ArmInfo by  Chief Researcher at the Dialogue of Civilizations  Research Institute, Russian orientalist Alexei Malashenk

According to the results of the elections of the members of State  Duma, held from September 17 to September 19, after the CEC processed  100% of the protocols, the ruling United Russia party won with  49.82%. The barrier of 5%, in addition to the United Russia, was  overcome by the Communist Party of the Russian Federation with  18.93%, the Liberal Democratic Party - 7.55%, "Fair Russia - Patriots  - For the Truth" -7.46% and New People - 5.32%. According to head of  the CEC Ella Pamfilova, the turnout in the parliamentary elections  was 51.68 percent, and their final results are expected to be summed  up on September 24.

"We perfectly see the urgent and periodically brewing problems in the  region as a whole, and around the Karabakh conflict, in particular. I  think that more concrete actions will follow after the final  completion of the electoral cycle, "the analyst forecasts.

In Malashenko's opinion, there is no reason to expect some kind of  crucial steps by Moscow before the completion of the stage of  internal changes in Russia. According to him, Russian diplomacy  continues to work, including in the Caucasus. And all the process in  the region is under control and appropriate attention. Another  question is that Moscow does not intend to violate the existing  regional status quo with new initiatives and strategies until the end  of the entire internal electoral cycle.  

"However, Russia has already stopped the 44-day war, consolidating a  new status quo and creating preconditions for a peaceful settlement  of the conflict in the form of a tripartite commission of deputy  premiers of Armenia, Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation. And, in  my opinion, if we talk about the substantive results of the  commission's work , then they can be expected in a few weeks after  the elections.  With the return of our diplomacy to its place and the  beginning of a new stage of its work, including in the Caucasus, "  Malashenko summed up.
