ArmInfo.Hungarian WizzAir low-cost airline plans to expand its aircraft fleet at Vilnius airport, as well as start operating flights from Vilnius to Icelandic capital Reykjavik and to the capital of Armenia Yerevan.
According to President of Wizz Air, Robert Carey, new flights will open from December. The aircrafts of the airline will fly to the capitals of Armenia and Iceland twice a week.
In 2020, it was reported that from June 1, the Hungarian Wizz Air low-cost airline will start operating flights from Armenia to Cyprus. According to the press service of the RA Civil Aviation Committee, flights in the direction of Yerevan - Larnaca were planned to be carried out twice a week. Earlier, Arminfo, referring to Corporate Communications Manage of Wizz Air Andras Rado, reported that from April 2020 the airline will enter the Armenian market of passenger transportation. He said that the company at the initial stage launches two directions: Vienna - Yerevan- Vienna and Vilnius - Yerevan - Vilnius. In particular, regular flights to Vienna start from April 3 (Mondays and Fridays) and Vilnius- from April 5 (Wednesdays and Saturdays). The minimum cost of a one-way ticket is EUR 24.99 (including hand luggage). According to him, the company will further expand the geography of air flights from Yerevan Zvartnots airport.
Wizz Air was established in September 2003. The main investor was the American Indigo Partners private company, which specializes in investments in transport.
