


ArmInfo. President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian has appointed a number of high-ranking officials in the RA Armed Forces.
According to the press service of the Armenian President, by Sarkissian's decree, Major General Arayik Harutyunyan was relieved of his post as commander of the 2nd Army Corps and appointed Director of the General Department of Intelligence of the General Staff/Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces. Harutyunyan was appointed commander of the 2nd Army Corps on December 19, 2019. Vahram Grigoryan was appointed the new commander of the 2nd Army Corps. By another decree, Major General Arakel Martikyan was relieved of his post as Director of the General Department of Intelligence of the General Staff/Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces. To recall, Major General Arayik Harutyunyan was among those who signed the statement of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia, published in February 2021, demanding the resignation of the government and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
