ArmInfo. The change of power in Armenia in 2018 was primarily due to the bankruptcy of the state's ideology. And later, all this together led to defeat in the 44-day war in Artsakh. Political scientist Stepan Danielyan expressed this opinion to ArmInfo.
"I think that I will not say anything new, stating that ideology should always lie at the foundation of any policy. And if this very ideology, which forms the world outlook, does not exist, then there is no, and cannot be a priori, efficient political parties. Accordingly, as a consequence, there can be no state with a predictable future. In such conditions, the state can exist only by inertia only in the absence of external threats, "he stressed.
Noting the fact of the continuation of the processes listed above, the political scientist noted that as a result, Armenia is ruled by a government completely devoid of ideology and, accordingly, worldview, which is opposed by an opposition of the same ideological content. In other words, the existence of both is inertial.
In this light, Danielyan stressed that in the absence of ideology with all the attendant factors, the current government and the opposition today are trying to substantiate the fact of their own existence solely by fighting each other. In other words, they continue to seek their own legitimacy in each other. And already almost everyone in Armenia either understood or simply felt that the political elite is only engaged in imitation of the political struggle.
In this context, Danielyan is convinced that as a result of all this "struggle" between the "former authorities" and the "current authorities ", neither one nor the other has and cannot have a stable electorate inside the country and sane reliable partners outside the country. First of all, due to its own emptiness, lack of predictability and, accordingly, understanding. In his opinion, all this in the aggregate turns both those and others exclusively into an instrument of short-term use by external forces.
"And in conclusion, one more important circumstance - all these disappointing realities are aggravated by another, very important factor. Among other things, the ideology and worldview of political parties is important in their internal organization, the formation of motivation in internal party life, healthy interpersonal relations, the formation based on justice, a clear charter. And only competition between such political forces that offer their values, methods and forms of organization to society can justify the fact of their very existence," Danielyan summed up.
