ArmInfo. The latest informational stuffing, and indeed all the stuffing about the creation of a joint army by Ankara and Baku is an attempt by Turkey to probe the reaction of neighboring states.
First of all, the reaction of Russia. And of course, such stuffing is a reconnaissance of the reliability and success of Turkey's future actions and a test of the reaction to these actions of the Turkic-speaking and other states. A similar opinion was expressed to ArmInfo by Victor Nadein- Raevsky, Director of the Institute of Political and Social Research of the Black Sea-Caspian Region, senior researcher at IMEMO RAS.
On July 29, Speaker of the Turkish Parliament Mustafa Sentop, according to the Azerbaijani media, said in Ganja that Turkey and Azerbaijan are negotiating to create a unified army. On the same day, the same media reported that Sentop's statement "was misunderstood due to a translation error." After that, a new version of the translation was circulated - "Joint activities are planned in the field of military cooperation. Work on these agreements is underway. Our main motto is one nation and two states. Many negotiations and agreements were held around this."
"It should be recalled here that Turkish interests within the framework of the ancient pan-Turkic ideas of achieving control over all Turkic-speaking peoples extend not only to the Turkic-speaking states, but also to the territory of the Russian Federation. Meanwhile, most of the autonomous national entities in Russia are Turkic-speaking. And if we consider that these territories are already included in "Great Turan" on Turkish maps, we understand that Moscow, of course, will not welcome the creation of a unified Turkish-Azerbaijani army. First of all, due to the obvious aggressiveness of such intentions, "he said.
In this light, Nadein-Raevsky noted the presence of Turkish aircraft and UAVs on the territory of Azerbaijan. And during the 44- day war in Karabakh, they were clearly controlled by the Turkish military. According to him, the creation of a joint Turkish- Azerbaijani army is part of the idea voiced several years ago to create an army of Turan. The expert is convinced that the cooperation of the security systems of the Turkic-speaking states within the framework of the Turkic Council is aimed at achieving Ankara's control over all Turkic-speaking states.
According to him, many people today believe in the idea of creating the Great Turan in Turkey. And some, including Erdogan's coalition partners, the Nationalist Movement Party, consider this the goal of their lives. At the same time, not all Turkic-speaking countries are ready to give up independence in favor of Turkey, in his opinion. And if such unified army is created, Azerbaijan, according to the expert, will finally lose control over its army, which will be controlled exclusively by Turkish generals. As it happened during the 44-day war in Karabakh.
In this light, Nadein-Raevsky noted that Russia has already deployed a fairly extensive military contingent in Karabakh, and today it is already deploying military personnel directly on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan. And it is making both bilateral efforts towards the settlement of the conflict - with Armenia and Azerbaijan, and multilateral efforts jointly with Turkey and France. Commenting on the prospect of even greater deployment of Russian troops on the border with Azerbaijan, the expert noted that first of all it is necessary to consider what this can give, in fact, to Russia itself.
