ArmInfo. France calls for the resumption of political processes between Armenia and Azerbaijan. This was stated by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Armenia Jonathan Lacote in an interview with Azatutyun radio.
At the same time, he stressed that this process should be fair and exclude the use of force or other influence. "These events cause France's concern, because this is a violation of the ceasefire," the French diplomat said. In this vein, he noted that due to such tension, deterioration of security has been registered along the entire border of Armenia.
The Ambassador said that within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group, there are contacts between France, Russia and the United States in order to achieve stabilization of the situation and have their own contribution to the process of resuming political processes. "At the moment, our main concern is related to the situation on the borders of Armenia," Lacote stressed.
At the same time, he added that France does not forget about other unfulfilled provisions, enshrined in the tripartite statement of November 9. In this context, he pointed to the point concerning the return of all Armenian prisoners of war and other detainees in Azerbaijan.
It should be noted that on July 28, at about 03:40 am, units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces carried out an attack on the Armenian positions located in the northeastern section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. As of 08:30am, as a result of the battles launched after the attack provoked by Azerbaijan, three soldiers were killed from the Armenian side, two more were wounded.
