ArmInfo. The Baku Grave Crimes Court has launched a trial against the Armenian blog writer Gevork Sujyan, who was captured by Azerbaijani servicemen during the 44-day war in Nagorno- Karabakh.
To recall, in addition to Gevorg Sujyan, his friend David Davtyan was also taken prisoner. Both of them are citizens of Armenia and civilians - members of the charitable public organization "New Armenia Motherland - Diaspora".
During the war, Sujyan provided humanitarian assistance to the population of Nagorno-Karabakh, and after the end of the fighting, he decided to familiarize himself with the situation on the spot. And although the Azerbaijani side refuses to disclose under what circumstances civilians were captured, according to the Office of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia, this happened on the section of the Berdzor-Shushi road on the territory of the Lachin corridor, which, according to the "letter" of the Trilateral Agreement of November 9 fell under the control of the Azerbaijani military.
As observers in Armenia note, the shameful farce of trials staged by Ilham Aliyev over prisoners of war and civilians, which strictly contradicts the trilateral agreements on Artsakh, is aimed at increasing pressure on Armenia to sign a peace agreement bypassing the internationally recognized settlement format under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group. That is why even blog writers and representatives of Armenian charitable missions faced the articles of "especially grave crimes" in a Baku court.
