ArmInfo.Having finally begun to arrest criminals in their offices, the state belatedly pays its debts to us, to society. Expert at the Armenian Institute of International and Security Affairs (AIISA) Ruben Mehrabyan expressed a similar opinion to ArmInfo.
"It is in this context that I see the arrests of mayors and heads of rural communities of Syunik region. This process is rather late, it must be recognized right away, but it is underway, it has just begun and very soon it will reach more and more new offices. "The offices, where criminal garbage has been accumulated for years, which led to a hybrid war against the state," he said.
In this light, Mehrabyan assesses the arrests and criminal cases brought against the heads of the communities of Syunik region as delayed administration of justice, the establishment of justice in the country, as measures to isolate criminals from society. According to the expert, the anti-state actions of all these people are primarily due to the desire to evade responsibility for previous crimes. However, now they will have to answer for all actions under each article of the Criminal Code.
According to Mehrabyan's definition, as of today, the main place where criminals and their patrons are still trying to evade responsibility, is the Constitutional Court. To this end, the latter are now spreading lies and manipulation, trying to disguise their own crimes with politics, presenting what is happening as political persecution.
"Why did it happen that only representatives of the "Hayastan" and "I Have Honor" blocs are involved in criminal cases on distributing pre-election bribes? I think that because all these people were initially well aware of their own essence. They understood that they would not be able to convince the electorate to vote for themselves within the framework of the methods provided for by law. It is clear that in such conditions, they had no choice but to once again resort to the methods so beloved over the past decades, native to them. Methods, that were so opposed to society that it made a revolution in the country, "the expert noted.
In such conditions, criminals in offices and criminals with parliamentary mandates, according to Mehrabyan, have no choice but to try, if possible, to delay the resumption of the natural functioning of state institutions of power - parliament and government after the elections. That is what they do by applying to the Constitutional Court with a demand to challenge the results of the elections.
"And, of course, by hindering the final formation of the executive and legislative powers, by delaying this process, they hope to somehow destabilize the situation and, with the help of their former clients, judges of the Constitutional Court, to achieve success. After its decision, no one will be interested in whether they admit the fact of their defeat or not. And of course, they try to present the elections as illegitimate, already with an expectation of the future. It is clear that they will achieve nothing and cannot achieve anything. Moreover, all this is already turning against them, and very soon the situation will turn in such a way that they will regret many times that they have made all this mess, "the expert summed up.
