ArmInfo. As of today, the intensification of attempts to actively involve the collective West: the US, now the EU in the situation around Armenia in order to bring it to a balance is already more than obvious. Independent analyst Saro Saroyan expressed such an opinion to ArmInfo.
"It should be understood that the current balance in the South Caucasus is determined exclusively by Russia and Turkey. Accordingly, this bilateral balance in the geopolitical dimension, in the geopolitical projection, is a manifestation of an imbalance. For the second time over the past 100 years, Moscow and Ankara are trying to impose their balance on other geopolitical players, to impose it on the whole world, "he stressed.
However, the situation, according to the analyst, is far from being settled and reaching the stage of final formation and consolidation. In particular, the US-led collective West is against such a balance. In his opinion, Tehran is also interested in upset, the final destruction of the Russian-Turkish balance - a geopolitical imbalance.
According to Saroyan, the presence of such sentiments in the field of international relations, creates opportunities for Armenia to form and go out on its own path and implement its own vision of the geopolitical situation. And here the whole question, in his opinion, consists in the presence or absence of Yerevan's ability to consider the problem from this particular angle.
"This is nothing less than the formation of the desire, respectively, the ability of Yerevan to fill the vacuum that arose after the 44-day war in ensuring Armenia's security with alternative security components. It is important to emphasize that here we are talking about the collective West as well as Iran and India. Unfortunately, the recent meeting of Pashinyan with Putin once again demonstrated that Armenia is really being forced to agree to the decisions outlined by Moscow and Ankara, "he stressed.
The latter, in the analyst's opinion, leaves Pashinyan with two possible paths. The first is to serve the line formed in Moscow, which will end up personally for him being recognized not only as one of the main culprits of the consequences of last year's war, but also the absolute one, the only culprit and responsible for violating the state interests of Armenia to please the Russian-Turkish balance. And here Pashinyan, in Saroyan's opinion, will no longer be helped by even the regained legitimacy.
"It is still impossible to finally seal, consolidate the balance between Russia and Turkey without Armenia, without Pashinyan. Given the clear line by Armenia aimed at filling the gaps in ensuring its own security, this will become impossible. Pashinyan is well aware that time does not wait, that Moscow requires him to take immediate action. And, in the end, he is quite capable of carrying out these actions with all possible slowdowns, so that this would allow him to personally get out of the current situation. I think that he has the opportunity to stall for time. Another question is whether he will use this opportunity, " summed up the analyst.
