ArmInfo. During the rule of Armenia after the victory in the early parliamentary elections, the policy of Nikol Pashinyan's government towards Russia and the EAEU and CSTO integration projects supervised by Moscow will not change. Pashinyan will continue the course he took before the elections. Deputy Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Skakov expressed a similar opinion to ArmInfo.
"In support of this vision, I will simply note Pashinyan's lack of political, geopolitical and other resources for the roll, especially the turn of Armenian foreign policy from north to west. It is also necessary to remember that the West in the geopolitical sense is, first of all, NATO. NATO for Armenia - this is Turkey, and Turkey, taking into account all the latest realities and geopolitical transformations in the South Caucasus, is Azerbaijan, "he said. In this light, the Russian expert noted a significant strengthening of Ankara's positions in the South Caucasus following the results of last year's war in Karabakh. As well as a significant deepening of cooperation between Turkey and Azerbaijan, in which Ankara, for obvious reasons, plays a leading role.
"Whether Azerbaijan is satisfied with this state of affairs is a separate question. The answer to which we will receive as a result of analyzing the behavior of Baku in the near future. But in any case, it is necessary to state that the Azerbaijani-Turkish relations have taken a completely new level, surpassing the level of their relations throughout the past. For Armenia and Pashinyan personally, all this means one thing - there is simply nowhere to turn, "he stressed.
Skakov does not expect any special changes during Pashinyan's second term in office and in domestic politics in Armenia. According to his forecasts, as before, the prime minister will rearrange the figures in the government, and, as before, will prefer to say more than to do, trying to avoid a policy based on a single, well-thought-out strategy in the form of a concept.
According to the preliminary results of the CEC, Pashinyan's "Civil Contract" party won the early parliamentary elections in Armenia by 687,251 votes(53.92%) . Pashinyan won in all regions of Armenia, including Yerevan. Of the remaining 25 political forces that took part in the elections, only the "Armenia" bloc (by 268,165 votes- 21.04%) , and the "I Have Honor" bloc (5.23% ), as the third force provided by the legislation, will be represented in the new parliament. All other political forces together collected 15.7%. Of the 2.578 million citizens eligible to vote, 1,281,174 or 49.4% of voters took part in the voting.
