ArmInfo. Analyzing the results of the latest NATO summit, one can come to the conclusion that the North Atlantic Alliance, of course, at the suggestion of the United States, is gradually beginning to move to the East. The German political scientist Alexander Rahr expressed a similar opinion to ArmInfo.
A NATO summit was held in Brussels on June 14. The leaders of the countries participating in the Alliance discussed a new strategic concept until 2030, relations with Russia and China, as well as the possible entry into the alliance of Ukraine and Georgia.
"Already today, we can state the intentions of the United States to actually force allies in Europe to promote Pax Americana outside the long-term range of NATO. We also see the West's intentions for a serious confrontation not only with Russia, but also with China. The main goal of all this is the same - to save the unipolar world. And the growth of such a civilizational conflict is fraught with a threat of collapse of fragile system of the world economy built on globalization. Unfortunately, no one in the West sees this today, "he stressed.
The New Atlantic Charter between the United States and Great Britain, a return to the nuclear deal with Iran, the active involvement of the United States in relations between Russia and Turkey; Commenting on the possible impact of such trends in global politics on the South Caucasus region, the German political scientist noted that the United States, apparently, is not going to somehow limit the geographic scope of its new offensive strategy.
Rahr estimates that in response to such a US offensive on a global scale, major players at the international and regional levels have taken a wait-and-see attitude. The latter is due to the response to transformations in US foreign policy in order to calculate possible retaliatory actions and build relations with Washington. "As a result of the meeting between Presidents Biden and Erdogan, we see a significant decrease in aggressive rhetoric on the part of Ankara. In the case of Russia, expectation from the results of Biden's meeting with Putin," he said.
"Recognition of the fact of the Armenian Genocide, restoration of the full-fledged activity of the OSCE Minsk Group are part of the US steps towards its own return to the South Caucasus, which, among other things, is conditioned by their relations both with China, Iran and Turkey, and directly with the countries of the region. And I think that Yerevan also needs to take this into account in the formation of its foreign policy concept, "Rahr summed up.
