ArmInfo. In the upcoming early parliamentary elections, scheduled for June 20, 22 parties and 4 blocs have registered. Head of the Central Election Commission of Armenia Tigran Mukuchyan said this in an interview with journalists.
At the same time, he noted that he has been working in the CEC since 2012 and in his memory this is the most unprecedented number of political forces that have expressed a desire to take part in the elections. Mukuchyan also agreed that this will undoubtedly increase the cost of holding elections, as more ballots will have to be printed. "It's one thing to print about 40 million ballots, another more than 70 million. We are counting. Tomorrow the figures will be presented. After all the calculations are completed, we will present in detail the issues related to financing," Mukuchyan explained, adding, that the agitation campaign of the parties starts on June 7.
Earlier, the Armenian police reported that 2,581,093 RA citizens have the right to take part in the electoral processes scheduled for June 20.
To note, 23 parties submitted applications for participation in the elections initially, but one of them was not registered by the RA CEC due to defects in the documents that were not eliminated within the 48 hours period allotted by the authorized body.
