ArmInfo. The OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde reacted to the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. Thus, Linde expressed concern over the repeated reports of incidents on the border of Armenia and Azerbaijan.
"All outstanding issues must be resolved peacefully through negotiations. OSCE stands ready to assist and implement confidence-building measures for creating an atmosphere conducive to dialogue>, the OSCE Chairperson wrote on Twitter.
As ArmInfo previously reported, on the morning of May 27 at the border section of the Gegharkunik region of the Republic of Armenia, while carrying out engineering work on the territory of the N military unit of the Armenian Armed Forces, six servicemen of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan were surrounded and taken prisoner.
To note, on May 12 and 13, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces illegally entered the territory of the Republic of Armenia in the direction of Syunik and Gegharkunik, advanced 3.5 km and 2 km inland, respectively, deployed their units and refuse to leave the territory. In connection with the current situation, Armenia turned to the CSTO to assist in finding a solution to this issue. The question still remains unresolved. According to some estimates, more than 600 Azerbaijani military forces were stationed in the sovereign territories of the Republic of Armenia. On May 23, the RA Ministry of Defense reported that the Azerbaijani side withdrew a part of its military from the territory of Armenia. On May 25, as a result of the shooting of the open armed forces of Azerbaijan on the territory of Armenia, an Armenian contract soldier was killed.
