ArmInfo. The Armenian society did not agree on the style of governing the country, which we see today as the result of the "Velvet" revolution. Human rights activist Artur Sakunts expressed a similar opinion to ArmInfo.
"A draft treaty on border demarcation-delimitation, any treaty, any agreement has a direct bearing on the security of a citizen of Armenia. In this light, receiving information about the processes related to this security not from the authorities whose duty is to ensure this very security, looks extremely illogical and strange, that is why information about this project had to be provided by people, bodies making such decisions, and not by people from outside, "he stressed.
On May 20, son-in-law of former Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, Mikayel Minasyan, stated that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan agreed to new principles of demarcation and territorial concessions in exchange for the withdrawal of Azerbaijani troops from the territory of Armenia. In confirmation, he posted a tripartite document on the network, which, according to his statements, is at the stage of approval. Pashinyan, during a speech in parliament on the same day, confirmed the authenticity of the draft document published on the network, stating that he was going to sign it, "since the agreement is fully consistent with the interests of Armenia."
According to the human rights activist, the most important decisions from the point of view of the national security of Armenia and its citizens are made today in an environment of general silence, inattention and oblivion. And apart from biased, politicized opinions, other opinions, in particular, the opinions of society are simply not voiced. And this is in conditions when it is the opinion of the society, the opinion of public organizations, the opinion of the citizens of Armenia, one way or another, when making decisions of such importance, should and is of decisive importance.
"We all initially, back in 2018, did not agree to such a style of governing the country. Accordingly, today we cannot return to the many years of memorized " decide as you wish", "all the same, everything is in their hands" mantras, especially, when all this directly concerns our own security. And here I would like to emphasize and remind you that the revolution in many respects became the natural result of impermeable, unaccountable rule of Nikol Pashinyan's predecessors, "he stressed.
According to Sakunts, against the background of the lack of timely provision of the entire amount of necessary information to the public, from all of the above mentioned, the main problem arises - the inability of the current government to ensure effective anti-crisis management of the country. The human rights activist noted with regret that as a result of the government's unwillingness to use all the tools necessary to ensure citizens' confidence in the decisions made, the government is now deprived of this trust. Moreover, the emergence of the same information about the draft border demarcation treaty from other sources that do not inspire confidence only increases the degree of public distrust in relation to the decision-makers in such an environment.
