ArmInfo. In recent days, there have been cases when individuals, various officials and media representatives are trying to get into the border areas of Syunik and Gegharkunik, in the direction of which provocations of the Azerbaijani armed forces took place. This is stated in the statement of the RA Ministry of Defense.
In this regard, the Defense Ministry strongly recommended, for security reasons, to refrain from traveling to the aforementioned areas where the RA Armed Forces carry out round-the-clock combat service.
"As stated earlier, in the absence of a peaceful resolution of the situation, the RA Armed Forces reserve the right to resolve the issue by any means, including force. In this case, the presence of civilians may prevent the Armenian units from fulfilling their tasks in full. In this regard, the duty forces of the RA military police were instructed to exclude the entry of civilians into the indicated places. We urge you to approach these restrictions with understanding, so as not to create unnecessary problems for the Armed Forces, "the statement of the RA Ministry of Defense says.
It is noteworthy that the above restrictions of the Armenian Defense Ministry for some reason only affect the media, which, by virtue of their profession, are obliged to convey reliable and verified information to the public. Journalists are not allowed access not only to positions, but also to border villages. For example, the ArmInfo correspondent could not even get into the Kut community of the Gegharkunik region of the Republic of Armenia, due to the fact that the road to the village was blocked by the military.
But in this regard, the issue of the existence of double standards raises. Thus, journalists are deprived of their right to freely obtain information, and representatives of civil society close to the authorities, such as, for example, the head of the "Union of Informed Citizens" NGO Daniel Ioannisian, freely walk around the positions of the RA Armed Forces and provide information from there.
