ArmInfo.The CSTO Foreign Ministers yesterday discussed the request of Armenia on the situation in the Syunik region. According to the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry, this was stated by the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry Sergei Lavrov at a press conference in Dushanbe.
"I would also like to say that yesterday, in an informal mode, we began the work of the CSTO Foreign Ministers. And during the meeting that was organized yesterday evening, we considered the request of our Armenian colleagues. In accordance with this request, we discussed the situation in relations between Yerevan and Baku, "Lavrov said, adding that the Russian side, in turn, informed about the efforts that are being made to resolve the situation that has arisen due to the lack of international legal registration of the state border.
Lavrov also informed that, by prior agreement with the parties, the Russian Federation offered to assist in the delimitation and demarcation of the border, taking the initiative to create an Armenian-Azerbaijani commission in which Russia could participate as a consultant or mediator.
It should be noted that a meeting of the CSTO Council of Ministers is being held in Dushanbe, in which the acting Foreign Minister of the Republic of Armenia Ara Aivazian is also taking part.
