ArmInfo. During the telephone conversation, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev exchanged views on the situation in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone after the hostilities.
According to Azerbaijani media, Aliyev outlined the position of Azerbaijan related to this issue. The President of Azerbaijan also stressed the importance of opening communications in the region and brought to attention the position of Baku related to ensuring long-term peace. The interlocutors exchanged views on the further activities of the OSCE Minsk Group.
During the telephone conversation, the parties stressed the importance of developing democratic processes, ensuring human rights, protecting and ensuring political pluralism in Azerbaijan. Antony Blinken noted that the 907th amendment to the "Freedom Support Act" (an embargo on the sale of arms to Azerbaijan, Ed. note) has been temporarily suspended this year as well. Aliyev expressed his gratitude in this regard.
Meanwhile, TASS, referring to the press service of the State Department, reports that Antony Blinken noted in a telephone conversation with Ilham Aliyev the importance of continuing the work of the OSCE Minsk Group (co-chaired by Russia, the United States and France) to achieve a settlement in Nagorno- Karabakh.
"The US Secretary of State noted the importance of continuing the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group co- chairs to achieve a lasting political settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in the interests of the peoples in the region," the department noted.
