ArmInfo.The U.S. government, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), will provide an additional $1,000,000 to the Armenian side to help prevent COVID-19.
According to the USAID press service, today the total amount of funding provided by the Agency of Armenia for the fight against COVID-19 is more than $11 million.
It includes emergency funding to meet urgent health needs, as well as to mitigate the secondary and tertiary impacts of the epidemic on democratic development and economic growth.
USAID will provide the above-mentioned funds to UNICEF to support the effective implementation and distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine in Armenia in accordance with the National Vaccine Distribution Program.
"Throughout the epidemic, the United States has worked with Armenia in the fight against COVID-19. With this new assistance, we will continue to work together to overcome COVID-19 and prepare for further threats to public health, " said U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Lynne Tracy.
It is also emphasized that since the outbreak of the epidemic, the United States has worked closely with Armenia to strengthen the public health response to COVID-19. This partnership includes building laboratory capacity, emergency management, providing basic equipment, supporting vulnerable households and children, facilitating the Armenian government's crisis communication, strengthening emergency preparedness, and promoting the resilience of small businesses, civil society, and the media through grants.
