ArmInfo. The silence of the 17 in response to the statements of Russian President Vladimir Putin about the ownership of Artsakh to Azerbaijan is quite understandable and does not raise any questions. The silence of the Armenian authorities is incomprehensible. A similar opinion was expressed by ArmInfo human rights activist Artur Sakunts.
"Being the government, many of the forces represented today in the "17" described the same sale of Russian offensive weapons to Azerbaijan as a business, as anything but stimulating Azerbaijani revanchism. And this is against the background of how even some circles in Russia itself evaded such an absurd characterization of what was happening. In this light, their silence in response to Putin's statements is quite understandable and logical," he said.
According to the human rights activist, both the previous statements of the "former" about Azerbaijan-Russia cooperation and their current silence are a manifestation of natural lustration. What is happening demonstrates the real essence of the"saviors of the state". With the "saviors", according to Sakunts, everything is extremely clear and clear. However, not everything is clear and clear due to the lack of reaction to all the same statements of the Russian president from their successors.
According to the human rights activist, the lack of a clear position and response from the political authorities responsible for the country number one regarding not only these statements is a significant problem. And if the silence of the "former" is due to the fact that they have been in power all these years thanks to this very silence, and their illegitimacy was compensated by the support of the Kremlin, then the silence of the current indicates either fear or serious dependence.
Sakunts assesses such disrespectful behavior of the authorities as unacceptable. According to him, Yerevan is obliged to make a statement regarding its own participation in the affairs and security of Artsakh. Or openly declare that from now on it is simply not a guarantor of security and ensuring the right of the people of Artsakh to live. Meanwhile, the lack of reaction, opinion, and vision of the authorities regarding ensuring our security reduces the entire agenda to one single issue - taking away this very power.
"Being at the helm of power is a mechanism for resolving all these issues and problems. Accordingly, today we demand the manifestation, the realization of power in this way. Holding fair and transparent elections is extremely important. But no less important is a meaningful approach, transparency and discussions around national issues. Only the government that presents clear, extremely understandable and clear approaches to foreign relations, state governance, the economy and, of course, security to the public is legitimate, " the human rights activist concluded.
