ArmInfo. The Georgian government is discussing the possibility of opening a land border, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava said in an interview with reporters.
Recall that from February 1, 2021, Georgia lifted all restrictions on regular flights. Foreigners can get to Georgia by plane if they show a negative test for coronavirus. Meanwhile, the land borders of Georgia remain practically closed - either Georgian citizens or foreigners are allowed to pass through them, if they present a document on the full course of vaccination.
It should be noted that Armenians ranked third in the number of visitors to Georgia in 2019 - 1,365,048 citizens. Only Azerbaijan (1,526,619) and Russia (1,471,558) were ahead of it in statistics. It should be noted that Georgia is not only a country where Armenians spent their holidays, but also a transit territory for trips to Russia.
Days earlier, Armenian Foreign Minister Ara Ayvazyan said that the issue of opening land borders is in the focus of negotiations between Yerevan and Tbilisi. He assured that options are being worked out for the early opening of land borders between the two countries.
