ArmInfo.Armenia was ranked 86th in the World Happiness Report, located between the Ivory Coast and Nepal. However, over the year, Armenia improved its indicators by 30 positions, since in the 2020 happiness rating, it was on the 116th position.
In the current rating, Armenia is four points ahead of Azerbaijan and 22 points ahead of Georgia, which took the 108th place. Russia, in turn, is 10 points ahead of Armenia.
The Global Happiness Report 2021 released today says it focuses focuses on the effects of COVID-19 and how people all over the world have fared. ''Our aim was two-fold, first to focus on the effects of COVID-19 on the structure and quality of people's lives, and second to describe and evaluate how governments all over the world have dealt with the pandemic. In particular, we try to explain why some countries have done so much better than others.''
Note that Finland ranks first in the ranking. Denmark is on the second line, and Switzerland is on the third place. Finland has been leading the happiness index for the 4th year in a row. The top 10 also includes Iceland, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Luxembourg, New Zealand and Austria. Rounding out the list are Rwanda, Zimbabwe and Afghanistan.
When determining the place in the ranking, the jury members take into account such indicators as GDP per capita, social support, life expectancy, people's sincerity, perceptions of corruption, etc. The latest Report, which measures the level of happiness in 149 countries, was published on the eve of the International Day of Happiness, celebrated on 20 March. World Happiness Ranking The Columbia University Center for Sustainable Development (CSD) is based on research from the Gallup World Survey and the Lloyd's Register Foundation and assesses the level of life satisfaction in more than 150 countries around the world in accordance with the Bhutan Resolution adopted by the UN General Assembly in June 2011 year in which national governments were asked to "put more emphasis on happiness and well-being in determining how to achieve and measure socio-economic development."
