ArmInfo.Edmond Marukyan's refusal to be nominated as a candidate for prime minister, and his readiness to sign a corresponding memorandum with the authorities, are due to the sharp change in the situation in the country. A similar opinion was expressed to ArmInfo by the deputy of the "Enlightened Armenia" parliamentary faction Gevork Gorgisyan.
Earlier, the leader of Enlightened Armenia, Edmon Marukyan, expressed the readiness of the parliamentary faction of his party to sign any memorandum with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and not to nominate his own candidate for prime minister in the event of Pashinyan's resignation. Note that if the second parliamentary opposition party "Prosperous Armenia" joins this initiative, the parliament may be dissolved, which will allow the ruling force, the "My Step" bloc, to hold early parliamentary elections.
"Earlier, when Marukyan refused to follow the calls of the" My Step "bloc, there was no confrontation between the executive branch and the General Staff of the Armed Forces in the country. The Prime Minister has brought the situation to the point of leaving us no other options. And for us, the main thing in all this is the interests of the state and the security of our country, "he stressed.
The parliamentarian sees no other way towards the settlement and overcoming of the current internal political crisis in the country than the parliamentary elections. At the same time, Gorgisyan stressed that Pashinyan himself does not at all strive for early elections. And his periodic invitations to the opposition to the elections are a bluff.
"Politics is the art of the possible. And if we see even the smallest opportunity to lead the country out of the current situation, then we are ready to follow it. The main thing is that it meets the interests of the state. The need to resolve the internal political crisis dictates everything," he said.
Commenting on the possibility of reproducing the current government through the use of an administrative resource in early elections, the parliamentarian noted that the forced use of this resource by Pashinyan in order to call people to his own rally already demonstrates his failure. Accordingly, even using this resource, he, according to Gorgisyan's estimates, is not capable of remaining in power. And "Enlightened Armenia", in his words, will do everything possible to reduce to a minimum Pashinyan's prospects, even to be in the parliament of the next convocation.
