ArmInfo. The third president of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, does not claim any more high positions. He stated this in an interview with ArmNews TV channel. According to him, he is ready to help rebuild the country as an adviser, but in no case lead it.
At the same time, Sargsyan said that he was accused of promising in 2015 after the constitutional reforms not to be prime minister, but this, as he put it, is a completely different conversation. Although, in fairness, we note that in the first part of his interview he casually noted that he should have remained in the post of the country's leader because he was in the negotiation process.
The third president, however, noted that the Republican Party led by him will continue to act actively and will participate in early elections, which it considers mandatory. Sargsyan said that the prime minister would not be able to evade the demand of the day and get away from holding elections, although the other day he said that he had changed his mind about holding them.
Sargsyan considered it important for the country to be led by wise and active people who could pull it out of its current state. At the same time, he considered it completely wrong to continue to be in a state of disappointment, since Armenia needs to live on and develop. There were more sorrowful pages in the history of the Armenian people, but the people found strength in themselves and always emerged victorious.
Speaking about the policy of the current authorities, Sargsyan noted that lies have become so widespread that they have crossed all visible and invisible limits, and the state approach is completely absent. Serzh Sargsyan noted that the current prime minister ascribes to himself the functions of the head of state, but the head of state is the president.
Moreover, the prime minister does not even realize the degree of responsibility to the people. He did not realize this even when, violating all diplomatic norms, he tried to threaten the authority of the CSTO. He did not even understand that tomorrow or the day after tomorrow there will be problems. When the prime minister, violating the laws of his own country, did not meet the head of state - a permanent member of the UN Security Council, an ally of Armenia - at the airport, after which he instructed the fake channels to start working to improve their image. The prime minister should have understood that punishment would follow tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. "If you are holding backstage negotiations behind your back, you must be aware of the extent of your responsibility," Serzh Sargsyan stressed.
