ArmInfo. The road problems that arose on the sections of the roads Vorotan, Shurnukh, Kapan and Chakaten refer not only to the security of internal communications of Armenia, but also to the free exit to the south, which is vital for the Armenian side. This point of view was expressed by Vardan Voskanyan, Head of the Department of Iranian Studies, Faculty of Oriental Studies, Yerevan State University.
"Due to the transfer of our positions in the Sanasar (Gubatlu) and Kovsakan (Zangelan) regions as a result of the so-called oral and, as they now suspect, and shameful written" agreements "with the Baku dictator, very favorable conditions were created for the enemy to control all routes land communication Armenia- Iran on the section of the road Goris-Meghri without exception..
There are two roads providing this communication from Goris to Kapan, of which the interstate highway M2 (Yerevan-Yeraskh-Goris-Meghri-Iranian border) is under threat in the Vorotan-Shurnukh regions and near Kapan, and the road within the republican significance H46 (Tatev- Agvani-Kapan) is under threat in the extreme south, again in the Kapan section, where it connects with M2, "the Iranist stated.
At the same time, he continued, two roads also pass from Kapan to Meghri, the safe of which is the continuation of the M2 highway (Kapan-Kajaran-Meghri-Iranian border), but the M17 interstate road (Kapan-Tsav) is under threat on the Chakateni section. built as a bypass (alternative) for the winter period of the M2 Kapan-Kajaran-Meghri interstate highway.
It should be noted that a day earlier, the Armenian Defense Ministry reacted to the resonant statement of Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan about the existence of one more (apart from two statements) trilateral agreement on the protection of the Goris-David Bek road section. Earlier, an unofficial text of a memorandum on the organization of safe traffic on the Goris-David-Bek and Kapan-Chakaten roads sections appeared on the network. The Ministry of Defense of Armenia drew attention to the fact that back in December last year it spread a message according to which Russian border forces are deployed on the Goris-David Bek section of the road to ensure uninterrupted traffic. The security of the 21-kilometer section of the Goris-Kapan road, which passes through problematic areas, will be ensured by Russian border guards. Border troops of Armenia and Azerbaijan will be deployed on both sides of the contact line. To ensure the safety of this section of the road, it is planned to carry out the necessary complex measures. "Thus, within the framework of the above complex measures to ensure the safety of movement of citizens, vehicles and goods, units of the border services of Armenia and Russia have been deployed in these areas," the statement of the RA Defense Ministry said.
Two days earlier in the parliament, Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan stated that apart from the statements of November 9 and January 11, there is one more agreement regarding the Goris-David Bek section, since the road there passes through "disputed sections."
At the same time, on February 11, it turned out that Armenian Foreign Minister Ara Ayvazyan did not know about the agreements with Azerbaijan on the section of the Goris-David Bek road in Syunik, which Avinyan said.
It is also worth recalling that the Ombudsman of Armenia has repeatedly stressed the illegality of the actions carried out on the border in the Syunik region.
