Analyst: Kocharyan`s request for other methods of struggle is due to  the impossibility of his return by methods of traditional

ArmInfo. Considering Robert's  methods of action Kocharyan is in the past, his willingness to run  for early elections raises serious doubts. Head of the Armenian  Institute of International Relations and Security Stepan Safaryan  expressed this opinion to ArmInfo.  On January 27, in an interview  with the media affiliated with him, ex-President of Armenia Robert  Kocharian expressed his readiness to participate with his team in the  early parliamentary elections in the country. Moreover, he expressed  confidence in his upcoming victory in these elections.

"In my opinion, Kocharyan is only trying to create the appearance of  his agreement with such a scenario. In fact, he supports and  encourages the different discourse of coming to power developed by  his supporters at various events. Kocharian clearly does not like the  methods of struggle of 17 opposition parties with Nikol Pashinyan. ,  which is another contradiction in his readiness to come to terms with  the early elections under the control of Pashinyan, "Safaryan  believes. The reason for such inconsistency in the statements and  deeds of ex-President Safaryan is conditioned by Kocharian's desire  to disguise his real actions.

In this vein, the analyst is convinced that there are serious  disagreements between Kocharian and the 17 opposition forces behind  which Serzh Sargsyan is backed, and first of all with regard to the  methods of changing the government. According to him, if the  oppositional bloc 17 voices its readiness to change power exclusively  by constitutional means, then Kocharian is more inclined to carry out  this change by force.  These disagreements, Safaryan said, are  clearly manifested at the rallies initiated by Kocharian's  supporters, and the disagreements, among other things, are caused by  the recent failure of the 17 single candidate for technical prime  minister Vazgen Manukyan. A failure caused by Manukyan's ambiguously  perceived statements by the society, his inability to carry the 17  burden on him.  "In any case, we as a society must exclude  legitimation in public life of any violence. To exclude a return to  the pre- revolutionary period of resolving political problems through  forceful pressure. And it is precisely the strengthening of  democratic processes in our country that is capable of marginalizing  anti-democratic rhetoric, "he said.  It should be understood that in  the absence of an alternative between Pashinyan and Kocharian, the  latter will not have a chance to win in the early elections.
