ArmInfo. Moscow and Tehran note their mutual interest in deepening the dialogue on a number of regional issues, including the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh. On January 26, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, opening negotiations with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif stated, TASS reports.
"Taking into account the role of our countries in the surrounding region, we are interested in deepening the dialogue on issues such as security in the Persian Gulf, the problems of Afghan settlement, and, of course, we can discuss the situation that has developed around Nagorno-Karabakh after the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan reached agreements," the Russian Foreign Minister said.
"The ongoing exchange of views with our Iranian friends on the Syrian settlement, on Yemen, on other conflicts in the Middle East is of great interest to us, primarily from the point of view of the need to prevent the decisions on the Palestinian settlement from being forgotten," the Mminister added.
He also pointed to the important role of Russian-Iranian interaction both in a bilateral format and on international platforms on the fight against terrorism, drug trafficking and other types of organized crime.
Lavrov also noted that Moscow and Tehran are sincerely interested in the full implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on the Iranian nuclear Pprogram (JCPOA) by all parties. "Today, one of the most pressing topics is the task of saving the Joint Comprehensive Action Plan for the settlement around the Iranian nuclear program. Both we and Iran are sincerely interested in the return to full implementation by all parties, that signed the JCPOA, of their obligations," the Russian Foreign Minister said .
