ArmInfo. The statements of the Commissioner for Human Rights of Azerbaijan varied little from the statements of the Ministry of Defense of this country. Human Rights Defender of Armenia Arman Tatoyan stated this at a press conference. The Ombudsman noted that, in general, he is ready to meet with his Azerbaijani counterpart to solve problems related to human rights violations. However, Tatoyan recalled that the Commissioner for Human Rights of Azerbaijan made insulting statements and set conditions under which she was ready to meet with the Ombudsman of Armenia.
"A meeting with the Commissioner for Human Rights of Azerbaijan cannot be an end in itself, and cannot be held at the expense of personal and national dignity. The statement of the Commissioner for Human Rights of Azerbaijan follows the same propaganda canvas of official Baku. The conditions set by Sabina Aliyeva for holding meetings are unacceptable. At the moment, contacts are only going through international structures. However, I have already noted, and I repeat, all issues related to human rights in Artsakh should not be discussed with me. They should discuss with the Ombudsman of Artsakh, "Tatoyan concluded.
To note, Commissioner for Human Rights of Azerbaijan Sabina Aliyeva, when asked whether a meeting with the Ombudsman of Armenia is possible, said that she was ready to meet with Tatoyan only if he "persuades his leadership to de-occupy the Azerbaijani lands."
