ArmInfo. Due to the hostilities, the power system of Nagorno- Karabakh lacked 112.5 MW of installed capacity. Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures of the Republic of Armenia Hakob Vardanyan stated this on January 12 at a meeting of the Commission on Eurasian and Regional Integration of the National Assembly of Armenia.
According to him, before the hostilities, the installed capacity of the Karabakh power system was 187.5 MW, now they are equal to 75 MW. The main producer of electricity in Artsakh continues to be the Sarsang HPP, which accounts for 50 MW. Another 12 MW of installed capacity is provided by channels from the Sarsang HPP, and the same amount from other small HPPs. Karabakh produced 330 million kWh of electricity annually, part of which was exported to Armenia. Now Armenia from thermal blocks makes up for the missing capacities of Artsakh by three power lines. Nevertheless, according to the deputy minister, the current consumption in Karabakh is seasonal, since a significant part of consumers currently use heaters. It is also unclear the exact number of people returning from the fighting in Artsakh.
