ArmInfo.Head of the Supreme Judicial Council of Armenia Ruben Vardazaryan strongly disagrees with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statement that the judicial system has become part of the "pseudo-elite". Vardazaryan stated this during today's press conference.
He stressed that judges would be at the top of the legal pyramid if the legal system was presented as a pyramid. "It is becoming obvious that in the legal sector, judges are already an elite, and there is no need to include them in another elite," the Head of the Supreme Judicial Council said.
Vardazaryan also commented on the statement of the Minister of Justice Rustam Badasyan, according to which it follows that the independence of the judiciary is under threat in Armenia.
"For me, the social media posts that humiliate the dignity and authority of judges are unacceptable, because there is not a single criminal case related to one or another unjust judicial verdict. If the country's leadership believes that the independence of the judiciary in Armenia is under threat, then why is this issue not being considered either in the Prosecutor General's Office or in the Special Investigative Service, "Vardazaryan stressed.
Vardazaryan noted that the judicial system in Armenia is at a very high level and judges show a professional approach in all matters. Therefore, all criticism of the judiciary is unfounded.
