ArmInfo. Mayor of Kapan Gevorg Parsyan does not rule out positional changes on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. Head of the Kapan community Gevorg Parsyan stated this during a working discussion organized by the parliamentary faction of the Prosperous Armenia party, presenting the current situation in the region.
The mayor stressed that now he does not carry out work to strengthen the border precisely because he does not exclude the possibility of positional changes. "In fact, the process of defining the boundaries and not on demarcating the boundaries is underway. Representatives of the Russian and Azerbaijani sides are participating in the process. Yesterday, a group approached our borders from Azerbaijan to conduct negotiations with representatives of the Ministry of Defense. From our side, the general went to the negotiations, who is now coordinating the defense of our borders, "Parsyan stressed.
The head of Kapan said that the Azerbaijanis offered to move positions 100-200 meters from the borders on both sides, so that the soldiers would not contact each other and because of this, new conflicts would not arise. In turn, representatives of the Armenian Ministry of Defense proposed to implement such an approach along the entire border, since there are areas where Azerbaijanis are actually very close to the Armenian border. This proposal is currently under discussion.
