Konstantin Zatulin, First Deputy Chairman of the Russian State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots, said this during a discussion organized by the Union of Armenians of Russia.

The Russian MP also recalled that a Russian military base is located in the Armenian city of Gyumri, and Russian peacekeepers ensure peace in Artsakh.
"Currently Armenia is not ready for a new war, therefore the presence of peacekeepers in Karabakh is of great importance. Moreover, the internal problems of Armenia have not yet been resolved. Now the Russian Emergencies Ministry is also helping to establish stability in Karabakh. The main thing is that all points of the trilateral agreement are observed in Artsakh," Zatulin noted.
The MP stressed that Russian border posts established in the Syunik region of Armenia, which guard the borders of the country. According to Zatulin, intensification of cooperation between Yerevan and Moscow should take place after the change of power in Armenia. Because in the event that Russia now renders assistance to Armenia, the impression may arise that the assistance is being provided directly to the country's leadership.
