Professor: Under the current conditions, talks about cooperation in  the South Caucasus are groundless

ArmInfo.  Only time can help to overcome the post-war sentiments in Armenia and Azerbaijan, overcome and dull the feeling of defeat and victorious euphoria. A similar  opinion was expressed to ArmInfo by the head of scientific research  of the Dialogue of Civilizations Institute, Professor Aleksey  Malashenko.

"Such pages of history, as a rule, are very difficult to turn over.  Especially in conditions of factual unsettledness of the conflict,  existence of many issues still to be discussed and resolved, for  which one of the parties is not ready and still speaks from a  position of strength. Moreover, one of the parties to the conflict  generally believes that the OSCE Minsk Group no longer exists, "he  noted.  According to Malashenko's estimates, the boundaries in the  region have changed, but not the content and logic of the processes.  The professor evaluates all these post-war realities as obstacles to  the development of a constructive dialogue, worthy of cooperation  between the parties to the conflict. In this light, he considers it  obvious that both dialogue and cooperation are impossible, at least  at this stage.

The professor is convinced of the groundlessness of all conversations  about cooperation between the countries of the region in the format  of six, or some other format. According to him, at this stage, the  implementation of such plans seems to be unrealistic. In his opinion,  one should not expect peace, let alone cooperation in the region  until the entire range of issues and problems between the conflicting  parties is resolved.

The Turkish President is actively voicing new ideas to create a new  geopolitical status quo in the region. Of course, under the Turkish  protectorate. And he does it in parallel with the next threats to  Armenia voiced by "brother Aliyev".

On December 10, at a parade in Baku, Erdogan voiced the possibility  of creating a "platform of six" in the South Caucasus - Azerbaijan,  Turkey, Russia, Iran, Georgia and Armenia, if it desires, for the  development of cooperation between the states of the region. Already  on December 11, returning from Baku, on the plane Erdogan told his  journalists of the support of this project by Russian President  Putin.  "In turn, the Armenian diplomacy faces a number of problems  to be solved. Especially in the post-war period. Today, Yerevan needs  to resist diplomatic strikes by building relations, including with  countries with which these relations have not been built before.  Flexibility and professionalism are the main qualities for defending  their own interests. And this, in turn, requires serious analytical  work in order to build a base for work on international platforms,  "summed up Malashenko.
