ArmInfo. Mayor of Goris, Arush Arushanyan, was charged with organizing riots under Article 225 of the RA Criminal Code. Naira Zohrabyan, MP from the Prosperous Armenia party, told reporters about this.
Now Zohrabyan herself is near the building of the Investigative Committee, where Arushanyan is. Moreover, human rights defenders and lawyers of Armenia also gathered near the building of the Investigative Committee, who are going to provide assistance to the mayor of Goris.
Zohrabyan stressed that perhaps Arushanyan will be detained for two months. However, the MP hopes that the mayor of Goris will be released.
It should be noted that today, at the call of Arushanyan, a number of roads in Syunik were closed from early morning, the citizens did not want to let the Armenian Prime Minister into Goris. Opposition activists blocked the Yerevan-Goris highway, stating that until the mayor was released, the highway would not be unblocked. A huge traffic jam has formed on the highway in the morning. Hundreds of people are virtually trapped in the cold.
