Erdogan begins to promote Turkish "Platform of Six" initiative in the  South Caucasus

Turkish President Recep Tayyip  Erdogan said this in an interview with journalists on the way from  Baku to Ankara.

"We did not leave Azerbaijan alone with the challenges.  Representatives of the Foreign Ministry, Defense Ministry and  intelligence kept close contact with our Azerbaijani counterparts. In  addition, our representatives constantly visited Azerbaijan," Erdogan  said, referring to the war unleashed against Nagorno-Karabakh.

The Turkish leader drew attention to the initiative voiced yesterday  in Baku to create "Platform of Six" (Azerbaijan, Turkey, Russia,  Iran, Georgia and, in case of Yerevan consent Armenia too) in the  South Caucasus. "If Armenia decides to take part in this process and  takes positive steps, then a new page may be opened in relations  between Turkey and Armenia," Erdogan said.

According to the Turkish leader, "Platform of Six", on which Turkey  is working, will become a platform for mutually beneficial  cooperation.

The Turkish leader also touched upon the future of relations with the  United States.  Erdogan said the US attempt to include Turkey in the  Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (CAATSA) is a  disrespect for a very important NATO ally. At the same time, he noted  that the US policy will most likely become clear after the transfer  of power to the new White House administration.  "Therefore, we  should be patient. Time will tell," Erdogan said.

It is also worth noting that Yerevan has already reacted to Erdogan's  initiative.  Thus, chairman of the permanent parliamentary committee  on affairs, MP from the ruling bloc "My Step" Babken Tunyan,  answering the question about the possibility of participating in the  initiative of the Turkish President, in particular said: "From a  global point of view, Armenia should be guided by its own interests,  and if interests it follows that it should participate in any  platform, then it should participate, and if not, then no.
