ArmInfo. Today, on December 9, Foreign Minister Ara Aivazian met with the Francoise Dumas, President of the Defence and Armed Forces Committee of the French National Assembly, which was also attended by the deputies of the France-Armenia Friendship Council of the National Assembly.
The interlocutors with satisfaction emphasized the privileged nature of the Armenian-French relations based on traditions and deep age-old values.
The meeting discussed the situation in the region after the Turkish-Azerbaijani aggression against Artsakh and the steps to be taken to overcome it.
Minister Aivazian highly appreciated the resolution adopted by the French National Assembly as a possible step in the process of recognizing the right of the people of Artsakh to self-determination and a just settlement of the Artsakh issue.
Touching upon the aggression of Azerbaijan against the people of Artsakh by Turkey with the direct participation of foreign armed terrorists, Minister Aivazian highly appreciated the solidarity of France, the French people, Artsakh and the Armenian people from the first day of the war.
Touching upon the urgency of resolving issues related to the humanitarian disaster in Artsakh, Minister Aivazian stressed the creation of appropriate conditions for the return of displaced Armenians of Artsakh to their places of residence. Both sides stressed the importance of preserving the historical, cultural and religious heritage of Artsakh in the territories under the control of Azerbaijan.
