ArmInfo.During the videoconference of NATO Foreign Ministers, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo clashed with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, the Athens Macedonian News Agency (AMNA) reported, citing diplomatic sources.
"US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, at an unusual NATO meeting of NATO foreign ministers, emphasized that Turkey opposes the principles and actions of the Alliance, thereby undermining its unity," the note says.
According to the agency, in his speech, Pompeo stressed "the provocative actions of Turkey in the Eastern Mediterranean, Libya, Syria and Nagorno-Karabakh."
He also called Ankara's acquisition of the S-400 air defense system "a gift to Russia through a NATO ally." It is reported that Cavusoglu began to oppose him. In particular, the minister expressed his "regret" that the United States had come out "against Turkey", supported the "maximalist positions of Greece and Cyprus" and "terrorist organizations." In addition, he said that "the position of France in Libya is the greatest threat to the unity of the Alliance."
The Turkish minister ended his speech, according to the agency, "with obvious irritation" stating that the OSCE Minsk Group, which is leading the search for ways to peacefully resolve the Karabakh conflict, is biased towards Armenia.
