Armenian President believes the government should resign

ArmInfo.The government must resign. Armenian President Armen Sarkissian stated this during a meeting with representatives of the Armenian community of Russia.   According to him, in Armenia now there is not one, but a whole series  of crises, including the emotional and psychological one.

"We all understand that a blow has been struck not only at the state,  but also at the Armenian man. This burden will be borne not only by  us, but also by our children and grandchildren. Now we are on our  knees, but we must stand up. After all that has happened, the  government must resign. Now there are a lot of problems in the  country. A strong politician may return. But now Armenia is a  completely different country than in 2018, and the way out of it is  to hold early elections and form a government of popular consent.   This does not mean that each party should have its own minister. On  the contrary, this government should include specialists. Such a  government should work six months or a year before the elections. It  is also necessary to hold a referendum and amend the Constitution.  Now the Constitution is not ideal and this should be worked on, "the  president stressed .

During the meeting, the President also noted that now the Armenians  of the whole world are going through difficult times. "We have a lot  of losses, not only the loss of the territory of Artsakh, but human  losses. We have friendly countries, our most loyal ally is Russia,  but we also have friends in the Arab countries. I met with  representatives of the Armenian community in the Arab countries. Many  were angry, many were upset, but I noted that we had lost the battle,  but we must get up from our knees.

All our allies are upset since we have lost, our enemies are happy.  Now is not the time to divide each other into "black and white". Now  is the time to unite and move forward, "the president stressed.   Sargsyan noted that we lived with the glory of 1994. "Azerbaijan and  Turkey had drones, they have been actively arming since the 90s, but  we have not. We said that our army was the strongest in the region,  but did not arm as intensively as the enemy. However, it should be  borne in mind that the next the war will be already using artificial  intelligence.

There is also a demographic problem. In the 90s in Artsakh lived  147,000 Armenians, in 2020 there were 122,000. If we had a friend, a  nation, more than a million people would live there, this territory  should have been populated, "he stressed. Sargsyan noted that an  information war is underway." Azerbaijanis and Turks were preparing  for it. But we are not, and now this information war continues. They  attack us, and we continue to attack each other in the country, "the  President noted, stressing that now it is necessary to audit errors  and draw conclusions.
