ArmInfo. The 9th clause of the trilateral statement of November 9, which provides for the connection between Azerbaijan and Nakhijevan through the territory of Armenia, will turn Armenia into Adjara. A similar opinion was expressed to ArmInfo by the former Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Arman Navasardyan.
"Georgia also took this path in its time, and today we see what it has led to. The implementation of the 9th point will allow Turkey to peacefully swallow Armenia within several years. I am more than convinced that there is simply nothing for Armenia and Turkey to do something in the same space and time, "he stressed. In the light of such prospects, the diplomat assesses the 9th paragraph of the Statement as very bad and does not come from the interests of Armenia. Especially in light of the quite possible prospects for the emergence in someone's "bright" head of the idea to open the border with Turkey. In general, he characterized the document as illegal due to the lack of its approval by the Armenian people, parliament and the Constitutional Court.
In this light, the diplomat considers it necessary to provide an appropriate corridor through the territory of Azerbaijan for communication with Russia and for Armenia. This is precisely what the idea of fully unblocking regional communications requires.
Clause 9 of the November 9 Trilateral Ceasefire Statement reads: "All economic and transport links in the region will be unblocked. Armenia guarantees the safety of transport links between the western regions of Azerbaijan and the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic in order to organize the unimpeded movement of citizens, vehicles and cargo in both directions. Transport control is exercised by the bodies of the Border Service of the FSB of Russia. By agreement of the Parties, the construction of new transport communications will be provided>.
