ArmInfo. Human rights advocate, chairman of the Helsinki Committee of Armenia Avetik Ishkhanyan was detained. Human rights advocate Ruben Melikyan announced this on his Facebook page.
Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan, in turn, said that the rapid response group of the Human Rights Defender had left for the Central Police Department, where Ishkhanyan was taken.
Earlier on November 20, Avetik Ishkhanyan noted that the Armenian authorities did not lift the martial law in the country for personal purposes. According to him, maintaining the regime of martial law after the shameful defeat is simply absurd. Moreover, protests against the actions of the authorities are peaceful and citizens have the right to conduct them.
Meanwhile, the use of force by the police is illegal. "This is the first time when people go out to protect their dignity, and law enforcement officers violate it. They do not protect public order, but protect the losers. The police have turned into a service of national shame," Ishkhanyan noted.
