ArmInfo. The geopolitical struggle for participation in the processes around Artsakh between the West, Russia and Turkey is more than obvious today. A similar opinion was expressed to ArmInfo by Fyodor Lukyanov, director for scientific work of the Valdai International Discussion Club, a well-known Russian analyst.
"Such processes, of course, were quite expected. The West, in this particular case, the US and France have a mandate to resolve the Karabakh conflict. And, of course, I do not intend to come to terms with the situation in which all the levers were in Moscow's hands. In the current situation, there are disagreements. they can both deepen even more and find their solution in the form of a compromise solution, "he stressed. In this light, Lukyanov recalled that Russia has never refused to participate in the processes of other members of the Minsk Group. At the same time, repeatedly, and at the official level, mentioning the need for a dialogue with Turkey. The latter, in fact, has always been an interested party to the conflict, and not so long ago generally proclaimed itself a party to it.
According to Lukyanov's forecasts, the format of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs, apparently, will remain and will continue its work. The whole question is in the degree of its efficiency and productivity in the context of recent changes in the region, in the content of the negotiating table and other related factors. Another fact is the lack of a clear cooperation mechanism in the Moscow and Ankara regions. It is still at the stage of formation and, accordingly, uncertainty.
"In this light, how the negotiations on Artsakh will continue and how all interested parties will take part in them is also unclear. We also see Moscow's desire not to rush to determine the status of Artsakh. Meanwhile, Armenia, France and the United States, apparently, are striving to start discussions on this issue now. A very complicated diplomatic game is going on and it is completely incomprehensible how it will end today, "summed up Lukyanov.
