ArmInfo. The European Union believes that it is necessary to resume political negotiations on the status of Nagorno-Karabakh within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group.
This is stated in a statement issued by head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell in Brussels on Thursday. TASS reports.
"The EU believes that it is necessary to renew efforts for a negotiated, comprehensive and sustainable settlement of the conflict, including on the status of Nagorno-Karabakh," the statement says.
The European Union intends to closely monitor the implementation of the provisions of the ceasefire agreement in Nagorno-Karabakh, especially the work of the monitoring center of Russia and Turkey. Borrell said the EU is calling for a complete and early withdrawal of all foreign fighters from the Nagorno- Karabakh conflict area. "The EU urges all regional players to refrain from any action or rhetoric that could threaten the ceasefire. The EU also calls for the complete and early withdrawal of all foreign fighters from the region," the statement said.
At the EU summit in early October, French President Emmanuel Macron announced the facts of the transfer of Syrian militants by Turkey to Nagorno-Karabakh. The first to announce this was Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Russia, Sergey Naryshkin.
After all this, Brussels called on Ankara not to intervene in the conflict and to promote its settlement.
