ArmInfo. Armenian Defense Minister David Tonoyan told RIA Novosti about the special role of Russia in efforts to end hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh, as a state with exclusive interests and interested in peace and stability in the South Caucasus.
"The Ministry of Defense of Armenia highly appreciates the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries aimed at ending hostilities in Artsakh. In this regard, we emphasize the special role of the Russian Federation as a state with exclusive interests and leverage in this matter, interested in peace and stability in South Caucasus, "Tonoyan said.
According to him, the course of hostilities unleashed by Azerbaijan against Artsakh confirms the position of Armenia and the entire international community (with a few exceptions) that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict has no military solution.
"The Armenian side still sees a solution to the issue exclusively through peaceful negotiations mediated by the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs of the Russian Federation, the United States and France. Nevertheless, if attempts to resolve the conflict by military means continue, the one who sheds blood will bear both political and moral responsibility ", Tonoyan warned.
