ArmInfo. There is no alternative to a peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict. Press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov told reporters, commenting on the statement about the possible dispatch of paratroopers to Karabakh.
"Russia has done and is doing everything possible to bring the current situation to the political and diplomatic settlement platform. We are still convinced that this problem has no alternative to a peaceful settlement," Peskov said, RIA Novosti reported.
He stressed that Russia intends to continue to make every effort for a peaceful settlement of this conflict. At the same time, Peskov stated with regret that Armenia and Azerbaijan have not yet observed the Moscow agreements on Karabakh.
"So far, it really cannot be stated that the previously reached agreements on a ceasefire and on a humanitarian ceasefire are being respected. Unfortunately, they are not being respected by the parties," Peskov said, commenting on the statements of the Turkish Vice President that Russia failed to resolve the crisis in Karabakh and that the problem cannot be solved without Turkey.
"As for the participation of third countries in the existing settlement formats, this entirely depends on the political will of the parties to the conflict. There are two parties to the conflict - Azerbaijan and Armenia. And to participate in the settlement of the conflict as mediator or to participate in the formats is possible only with the consent of the two parties," summed up the press secretary of the head of the Russian state.
Earlier, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee for CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots, head of the Institute of CIS countries Konstantin Zatulin said that it was Azerbaijan and Turkey that violated the peace in Nagorno-Karabakh, and noted that Russia could conduct a landing operation in Armenia, including with the aim of remind which country is leading in the post-Soviet space.
